John Jantsch is well know author and expert of the referral sales approach. In his blog Duct Tape Marketing  he daily offers suggestions about the application of this sales strategy. The last post presents several tools that could be used to increase one’s reputation or influence in the net.
His book The referral engine is a mine of good hints, and we will dig it and share the best clues.
Let’s start with this one: we often mentioned that virtual and real life need to merge somewhere, because they are just the two faces of the same coin. And we need to reach a good trustworthiness in both worlds.
John suggests this easy and smart way to work on both sides: “one of my favourite strategie is to take the business cards I am given at face-to-face events and connect to these people on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter. People I have met only once soon become good friends online, as I learn more about their business, careers, family and hobbies”.
I personally believe this is a very profound suggestion that reach the core of every relation: we have to take care of other people to win their trust and friendship. There’s no short cut to reliability.
Are we ready to invest time and effort in taking care of other people?
